Slippery Elm Bark

For hundreds of years, Native Americans have used Slippery Elm Bark for its beneficial and soothing properties. It is a large, deciduous tree native to Eastern North America known for its mucilaginous, strengthening, and nutritive properties. Slippery elm is a master demulcent. It exerts a soothing effect on mucous membranes of digestive, respiratory, and urinary tracts. It is also used for protecting against stomach and duodenal ulcers, for colitis, diverticulitis, GI inflammation and acidity.

L-Glutamine Amino Acid

A component of healthy connective tissue and mucous membranes, it supports mucous membranes and linings in the respiratory and digestive tracts, nutritionally supports digestion and is indicated for leaky gut. L-Glutamine is an amino acid. It supports the strength of the mucosal lining and the proper functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and acts as a protector against the irritants that cause inflammation.

Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice

Licorice root is considered one of the world’s oldest herbal remedies. Licorice Root/DGL is a form of licorice that is safe for those with high blood pressure as it has the glycyrrhizin constituent removed. It benefits gastric mucosa by improving circulation, secretion of protective layer, and supporting growth of new mucosal cells.

Larch Arabinogalactan

Prebiotic Larch Arabinogalactan is a Larch tree extract that supports colon health. It is often used as an effective adjunct to cancer therapies due to its ability to stimulate the immune system and block metastasis of tumor cells. Its uses in people include chronic fatigue syndrome, viral hepatitis, HIV/ AIDS, and autoimmune diseases. It is also commonly used for infections.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is known for its healing effects on the skin and intestinal tract. Its primary internal use is for constipation or soothing the GI. In humans, it has been shown to help with several digestion-related issues. Topically Aloe Vera gel is used for minor burns, wound healing, and dermatitis. Aloe Vera is naturally rich in amino acids, enzymes, vitamin C, and a wide range of minerals.

INSTRUCTIONS

Add your horse’s serving to feed once (1) per day. 

If your horse is dealing with any type of chronic disease (eg. heaves, founder, ulcers, hives, laminitis, etc.) a therapeutic serving is recommended for a minimum of 60 days for support.

Loading Serving

Give your horse the loading serving for 60 days then proceed with maintenance serving.

Maintenance Serving

Safe use in pregnant animals or animals intended for breeding has not been proven. If animal’s condition worsens or does not improve, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian.

We always recommend starting with ¼ of the recommended dose and slowly working up to the full dose over a 1-2 week period. Because EGS doesn’t contain any fillers, the full dose is very small and often goes unnoticed, even by the pickiest equines!

EGS is a perfect addition to the recovery plan if antibiotics need to be administered. When you give antibiotics, this kills the bad bacteria in the gut, but it also kills good bacteria in the gut. EGS is a wonderful way to help restore you horse’s gut post-antibiotic treatment by replenishing the microbiome. Start Equine Gut Soothe once your horse has finished their antibiotic medication. 

Horses with any type of inflammatory issues can benefit from the support that EGS provides. Horses that may benefit from this type of support include those with recurrent colic, gastric ulcers, oral disease, equine asthma (COPD), laminitis or any inflammatory issue. Additionally, horses that need to have antibiotics or NSAIDs (eg. Bute) will benefit from this product.
