Ascophyllum Nodosum (Kelp) is known to help reduce tartar and plaque buildup and improve hygiene in dogs and cats by containing beneficial bacteria that breaks down plaque and biofilms, and also by having anti-inflammatory properties.Rosemaryis known to contain compounds that can kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria in the mouth. By reducing bacterial growth, rosemary can prevent plaque buildup, a sticky film that harbors bacteria and can harden into tartar. Green tea is known to contain catechins (especially EGCG – epigallocatechin gallate) that can inhibit the growth of bacteria linked to plaque and tartar buildup.This helps slow the progression of periodontal disease.Green tea catechins have antibacterial effects against Streptococcus mutans and Porphyromonas gingivalis (common oral pathogens in humans and dogs). This reduces the bacterial load in the mouth and the polyphenols in green tea neutralize sulfur compounds in the mouth that cause bad breath. 1/4 scoop is provided, 1/4 tsp = 0.526g.
